Gateway 2 document readiness self-check

Identify the information to chase before your next project-team review.

Free to use, no sign-up. Calculator entries and checklist answers stay in your browser and are not sent to Gate Zero. Print a copy before leaving if you want to keep your results.

This is a self-reported planning checklist. It does not review documents, verify competence or technical compliance, or tell you whether BSR will approve an application.

Answer every prompt. If you choose “Not applicable”, add your reason so it appears in the summary.

Application information

Check building type, work type, stages and any transitional provisions.

Use a consistent revision set that describes the proposed work.

Include document names, descriptions and references.

Check file formats, size limits, naming and the required application fields against current guidance.

Check who is submitting and which statements or authorisations are required.

Appointments and competence

Resolve differences in names, organisations and responsibilities.

Use evidence appropriate to the role and project; a checklist does not assess professional competence.

Designer and contractor competence frameworks address different roles.

Confirm the applicable duties with the client and appointed organisations.

Record the evidence considered and the reasons for the appointment decision.

Coordinated design information

Ask the competent designers to resolve discrepancies; this tool cannot check technical adequacy.

Describe the standards used, why they were selected and how they apply.

Do not treat an intention to seek approval with requirements as permission to defer necessary information.

Record who reviewed it and what remains unresolved.

Planning changes and building-control changes follow their respective processes.

Construction and information controls

Describe how the project team will manage and evidence compliance during construction.

Confirm responsibilities, reporting routes and applicable timescales.

Assess changes against the applicable criteria before carrying out affected work.

Confirm access, revision control and recipient needs.

Submission planning

A starter template needs project-specific additions and applicability review.

Check the actual package, not just the planned folder names.

Explain staging or partial completion proposals where relevant.

Keep proposed deferrals separate from requirements actually agreed by BSR.

This self-check is a discussion aid, not permission to submit or start work.

Sources and next steps

The prompts are Gate Zero’s editorial discussion aid, informed by BSR application-information guidance. They are not an official BSR checklist or the Gate Zero application’s activated control profile.

Turn your follow-ups into an evidence register with the information schedule starter. Read the Gateway 2 guide for the broader process.

Discuss your submission

Ask about a document readiness review against an agreed scope. Customer intake opens after service qualification and an accepted engagement. Gate Zero does not provide BSR approval or design certification. Please do not attach submission documents to your enquiry.
